——————————————————————————————————————–

Content of the workshops:

Rhythm guitar:
Striking technique + correct position of the right hand
Steam with your left hand
typical chords of Gypsy Swing
various rhythms (bolero, swing, ballad etc.)
classic intros + outros
Extensions (bass line interjections + stepped chords)
Accent interjections (a la Django Reinhardt)

solo guitar:
Plectrum or striking technique of the right hand
Left hand fingerings
Melody playing (from the "simple" melody to the "hot jazz" variant)
Genre-typical improvisation material (licks and arpeggios etc.)
typical embellishments (vibrato, trills, etc.)
Influencing dynamics through the right attack (loud / quiet)
simple instructions for improvising (using pure major and minor chords)
Use of chords (e.g. in the intro or when soloing)

Generally:
Chord and fretboard overview
Structure of standard pieces (e.g. AABA form)
Ear training tips and tricks
proper practice (e.g. with metronome, correct timing)
repertoire building

The above techniques are explained using Gypsy Swing pieces, so that you also get an insight into the genre-typical repertoire. In contrast to the advertised material, many of the above-mentioned contents are explained in practice in the lessons. The workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced users. After registration, students will receive tablature and audio tracks (for preparation). You are not expected to look at the solo passages, as many things are not explained until the lesson (right hand technique, fingerings, etc.), but you should look at the rhythm guitar (and associated chords) first. We also recommend that you regularly listen to the MP3s included so that you get a "feel" for the rhythm of the accompanying and solo guitar.
